Adrian Welton, a senior at Westview High in California, placed second in the Division 1 boys final at the CIF San Diego Section Championships by covering the 3-mile layout in 14:54.4 at Balboa Park's Morley Field. Welton, who finished fourth last season in 15:21.3, led the Wolverines to the team title with a 74-83 triumph against Canyon Crest Academy.
